The Sounding Waves' Translucent Light
2019
Installation
I was helping install sculpture down on the South Bondi headland for the SXS exhibition. I was asked to cart down 20 bags of sand & cement down to the water side.
When I got down there, I was greeted by two polite artists, Gabriella & Chloe, along with the master installer Yuri, eyeing the contours of the rock as he cut a form box for it with a jigsaw. A strong light was attatched to a metal frame chemset down to the concrete and each evening, this beam of light would capture the rising tide as it illuminated through the peaks of the waves.
I absolutely loved this concept. It was totally mezmerizing to watch each night after a days work.
